Love Has No Labels - American Dreams
American Dreams is the first PSA from the Ad Council and California’s States BRIDGE Project partnership.
It’s goal was to build empathy through the dreams we all share, and to drive change by revealing the harsh realities we don’t.
Since same-sex marriage became legal in 2015, anti-LGBTQ+ legislation has surged across the U.S. In 2023 alone, 522 bills were introduced, most targeting transgender people and restricting access to healthcare, housing, and basic safety.
These laws create real, legal barriers to the American Dream, a dream that already feels so out of reach for most.
Casting for the LGBTQ+ community and talent took place in front of and behind the lens, the production house, the crew, the director, even our post-production crew were all curated for the inevitable and essential nuance required. The films bring to life the quiet, universal hopes of LGBTQ+ Americans: a place to call home, the freedom to live in safety, and opportunities to build a better life. But each of these dreams is interrupted, not by chance, but by law.
